The Collective Leadership Institute (CLI) is an ongoing project of Women Transcending, dedicated to fostering the emerging leadership of formerly incarcerated and directly-impacted women and gender non-conforming people around the country. Each year the CLI chooses approximately 20 women to join a year-long cohort to participate in ongoing education aimed at leadership skills, movement building, organizational training, fundraising, budget management, and coalition building.
The Alumni Network Cohort (ANC) exists to strengthen critical connections and expand CLI networks across the country. Participants in ANC are CLI graduates who provide education, training, and support to others impacted by incarceration in their region. Women, especially women of color, and gender non-conforming people directly impacted by incarceration often have little access to existing mainstream networks that provide job support, funding connections and opportunities, access to policy leaders, media exposure, and more. ANC helps bridge that gap and provides the tools and training needed to grow a national group of women through a formal structure in their state/region.
