In Recognition of Second Chance Month: Empowering Futures Borough of Manhattan Community College/CUNY Project Impact & Director Tommasina Faratro invites you to a powerful career panel in recognition of Second Chance Month!
As we engage in this discussion surrounding the ‘44,000 collateral consequences.’ These refer to the legal and societal barriers that individuals with criminal records face after their release. They range from restrictions on employment, housing, voting, education, and professional licensing, to challenges in accessing public benefits and family reunification. These invisible punishments can perpetuate cycles of marginalization, making reintegration into society an uphill battle. Join me as I speak with leading advocacates and policy reformers—and explore what solutions are possible.
This panel is a unique opportunity to hear firsthand stories of resilience from individuals with conviction records who have successfully navigated education, career development, and reentry, despite facing over 44,000 legal and systemic barriers that returning citizens encounter.
