Celebration Week is a preview of how Women Building Up (WBU) can and will convene activists and organizers across multiple social justice communities to gather in solidarity and build a dignified and just world for justice-impacted women, girls, and gender-expansive people.

Celebration Week consists of two free public events: Moving In Solidarity (September 21) and Community Open House (September 24). Both events will take place downtown Brooklyn at the WBU headquarters (located at 401 State Street | Brooklyn, NY 11217).

Event #1: Moving In Solidarity

The Moving In Solidarity gathering will bring together activists working on various intersecting issues, ranging from criminal justice to gender equity. The event will enable participants to better understand the issues and how they are critical for ending oppression and inequity in various communities across New York City and beyond. As the country nears another presidential election and the reality of a nation divided, leaders and community members will discuss social justice movements, where and how they intersect, and where we can go from here. The gathering will be organized around two panels and three breakout groups.

PLUS! WBU will also host a dance party with a DJ from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm!
