Congratulations to Collective Leadership Institute Alum and Degrees of Freedom Director and Cast Member Aisha X Elliot on her graduation from Columbia with a Master's in Science in Nonprofit Management!
Aisha is featured in the short documentary Degrees of Freedom, which had its world premiere at the Dances With Films Festival in NYC in December 2024. Degrees of Freedom chronicles the powerful journey of incarcerated women organizing behind and through the bars of New York’s only maximum-security prison for women to create a college program and transformative community of care — reclaiming their futures and challenging the narrative of who they are and what they can achieve.
From developing a college program at Bedford Hills Correctional Facility to graduating with her Master's at Columbia, we are so proud of the impact Aisha has made and will continue to make on her community and for women impacted by incarceration. We love you Aisha!
