The Freedom For All zine is a project of our Justice Beyond Punishment Collaborative (JBPC) and came out of a JBPC working group that focused on how advocacy narratives can often create hierarchies of worthiness, excluding groups and demographics of people from opportunities for liberation and freedom. This is done in messaging, policy demands, or concessions to get bills passed. We explored how hierarchical messaging can be harmful to the overall movement to end punishment and violence and further “otherize” people who are already experiencing oppression and violence from the state.
This zine is especially timely in our current political movement and issues around incarceration and immigration. Please feel free to share with your networks or email us to pick up copies at our office [email protected].
