Prison Education Informational Panel

Event time is displayed in your time zone.
The Heyman Center, Second Floor Common Room, Columbia University

Are you in any year of a graduate program in Arts & Sciences and interested in learning more about higher education in prison? Each year, Columbia’s Justice-in-Education (JIE) Initiative offers a range of opportunities to support justice-impacted students.

Please join the JIE Initiative for an informational panel focused on our Prison Education Program at Taconic Correctional Facility. Graduate students across disciplines will discuss facilitating Columbia courses for incarcerated learners, and students will share their learning experiences in those courses. JIE staff also will be on hand to suggest other ways to get involved. This event is a great opportunity to learn about the initiative’s work, plan ahead for how it might fit into your graduate school career, and register interest. Lunch will be served.

This event will be panel discussion among Taylor Rae Almonte (Human Rights), Patrick Anson (English & Comparative Literature), Jennifer Berry (Hudson Link Reentry Case Manager), Ivan Calaff (JIE Reentry Coordinator), Mia Florin-Sefton (English & Comparative Literature), and Nick Ide (Biological Sciences).

Email Kate Suffern with questions ([email protected]) or if you cannot attend but would like to learn more.
